Galway city's newest pharmacy, Cleary's, celebrated it opening in Mary Street on Monday.
Sarah and James Cleary have opened the door to their independent family business, providing pharmacy services to residents and workers in Galway city and beyond.
The Mayor of Galway, Clodagh Higgins, and Minister of State Hidegarde Naughton attended the special occasion with members of the Galway Chamber of Commerce, locals from Woodquay, Bowling Green, Francis St, neighbouring businesses, and friends.
Galway native Sarah began her pharmacy career in the community, before gaining extensive clinical experience working in hospital oncology services, and leadership experience as chief pharmacist in the Galway Clinic.
Sarah says her love of working in a direct patient role brought her back 10 years ago to Community Pharmacy, where she has enjoyed building strong relationships with customers in Galway city and beyond.
Sarah and James viewed the vacant Mary St unit in the Summer and enjoyed working with local tradespeople to fit it out as a pharmacy premises.
“There’s real satisfaction in viewing a premises that’s a shell unit, and working with a shopfitter, electrician, and plumber to make the best use of the space, and then to see the transformation to a ready-to-go retail premises.”
Cleary’s Pharmacy provides all pharmacy services including prescription dispensing, medicine and wellbeing advice, emergency contraception, free blister packing, and vaccination services.
