Qween Will Rock You at Monroe’s Live.

Having received a shout-out from acclaimed Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder at his solo show for his mirror-like impersonations of Freddy Mercury, Kildare musician Brian Keville is at the top of his game. As lead singer for the theatrical rock performance group Qween, the artist pours his heart and soul into recreating the legendary vocals and charismatic style of the music icon.

A chance meeting with Vedder and an impromptu version of ‘Day-o’ on the streets of Celbridge led the Pearl Jam star to praise the talent of Keville in front of his live audience at the 3Arena. Now, Galway fans of Queen will be able to witness the Kildare man in action at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, March 18.

Renowned for his re-enactment of Mercury’s enigmatic persona and quirky mannerisms, Brian Keville brings his work to life. Together, the band have gone the extra mile to capture the legacy of the original group, including acquiring a tailor-made lemon leather Freddie jacket and guitar equipment from Brian May’s former technician.

“Freddie had a way about everything he did that is hard to capture,” says Brian. You need to totally forget who you are and create this larger-than-life persona with total commitment to your audience. And a real bushy moustache also helps! We will rock you.”

It’s all part of their dedication to the technically complex musicality of Queen. To this end, the band also perform the challenging opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody live.

Qween’s two-hour show on Saturday March 18 at Monroe’s Live features a veritable anthology of greatest hits, from Radio Ga Ga to Somebody to Love and is set to reignite the atmosphere and anthems of this beloved band. Tickets cost €22.50 and are available from www.monroes.ie
