There was no joy for handballer Martin Mulkerrins on his latest tour stop in Montana, USA.
The Moycullen player, looking for back-to-back wins at the WPH prostop in Missoula, lost Sunday's final 16-14, 15-7.
He had held a 14-10 lead in the first and looked to be on course, but Boston's Killian Carroll, former World Champion and the 2022 WPH number one seed, was determined to avenge falling to Mulkerrins in their last two bouts in Salt Lake City and Tucson.
Carroll snatched the first, 16-14 and built on that momentum to see out the second 15-7.
Now all eyes are on Houston, Texas in a fortnight when this rivalry might play out its next chapter.
Despite this disappointment, Mulkerrins, who appeared in all the Pro-Stop finals since September, has now displaced the Mexican, Cordova, to be number one seed on the WPH ranking list.
