Meath to test Galway’s credentials

Galway Senior Ladies are back in action on Monday (February 6 ) when they take on Meath in their third round of Division 1 LIDL National League.

A much anticipated clash, this meeting will provide Galway with a litmus test of their title credentials against the current All-Ireland champions.

Unbeaten to date, the Galway senior side has enjoyed wins over Donegal by 0-11 to 0-6 in the first round, followed by a comfortable win over Dublin. Only two ahead at the break, Galway took advantage in the second half to stamp their authority and prevail by 1-13 to 0-7.

Galway’s work-rate and pace caused problems for Dublin’s defence on that occasion, and led by Olivia Divilly and Louise Ward, a goal from Louise Coen made all the difference in the second half as Galway outscored their opponents by 1-7 to 0-3.

With a few youngsters having made their debuts against Donegal, Galway is building nicely this season, while also boosted by the victorious Kilkerrin-Clonberne contingent. However, they can expect to face a real test from Meath, who, having suffered a 1-11 to 0-8 loss to Dublin in the first round, were comfortable winners over Donegal by 1-7 to 0-5.

The game takes place at Páirc Tailteann, 1.15pm and will be broadcast live on TG4.
