2021/2022 Leaving Cert Student Eimhin Mulligan was named the winner of the inaugural Pat McDonagh Business Award, sponsored by the N17 Plaza. This is a dedicated Business Studies award for Leaving Certificate students, exclusive to St Jarlath’s College Tuam and sponsored by the newly opened N17 Plaza.
Eimhin was picked from a wide range of nominees by an independent team of internal and external adjudicators. The winner excelled during his time at St Jarlath’s College, at both Business and Accounting subject exams in the 21/22 Leaving Certificate. Eimhin is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in University of Galway.
Upon receiving his award Eimhin said “I’ve always had a major interest in business studies and the business world and this award is a great boost for me, not to mention what it will do for my CV.”
“I’d sincerely like to thank all the teachers and staff in St Jarlath’s College and to the N17 Plaza and Pat McDonagh for sponsoring this great award”.
The award’s main objective is to entice current St Jarlath’s Leaving Certificate students to explore the options available to them post Leaving Certificate in a business-related course and career. The initiative includes a cash prize and a Business Award plaque, an achievement that can be added to his CV.
Supermac’s MD Pat Mc Donagh who presented the award on Thursday morning in St Jarlaths said they are delighted to be presenting this award to Eimihin, who has proved to be an outstanding young student of business.
“Our young people are the entrepreneurs and business people of the future. They are the ones who will innovate and bring new ideas that will have a lasting impact on society.
“Young business people have the capacity to change the world we are living in and is critically important that young people continue to study business as a subject in second and third level in order for them to realise their potential.
“I would like to commend all the teachers and assistants at St Jarlath’s, led by Principal John Kelly, for their work to promote Business Studies in the school, and Eimhin, of course, whose success is an inspiration to all of us,” he said.
