The Legacy of Bon Jovi Is Reignited at Monroe’s Live

As part of the popular Dublin band, Dead Ringer, formed in 1989, lead singer Collie Brophy toured across Ireland, the UK, Europe and the US, gaining a host of fans at home and abroad. Now, he is blazing a new trail with Ireland’s ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute band, Slippery When Wet. The five piece are set to reignite the exciting glam rock era when Bon Jovi stormed the charts, playing their top hits back to back at Monroe’s Live on Friday, January 6, 2023.

From the dizzying heights of ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’, ‘Bad Medicine’ and ‘Bed of Roses’, to the soulful ‘Blaze of Glory’, Slippery When Wet relive the giants of rock at the peak of their career. Their renditions are such that the band have gained a sterling reputation for delivering note perfect performances with passion and bravado.

At the helm, Collie Brophy has all the swagger and style of Jon Bon Jovi as he guides the audience through the powerful songs that changed the landscape of American rock music during the ‘80s and ‘90s. While known for his work with Dead Ringer, Collie has also performed twice on the Eurovision stage as one of the backing singers for the Bosnia and Herzegovina entries in 1994 and 1995.

As part of Slippery When Wet, he is joined by Conor Curran on guitar, John Mulrooney on keyboards, Darragh O’Hare on drums and Kieran McDonnell on bass. Together, the band bring decades of experience to the stage. Their talent is such that members have toured internationally with the likes of Magnum, Status Quo and Skid Row.

Whether it’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ or ‘It’s My Life’, Slippery When Wet chart their musical journey with pride to captivated audiences, bringing their legacy to life. Fans can expect a theatrical night of showmanship and impromptu banter as the band capture the wild essence of Bon Jovi with aplomb.

“Bon Jovi have had a stunning career,” says lead singer Collie Brophy in advance of their gig at Monroe’s Live.

“Jon Bon Jovi is one of the most gifted songwriters I have ever come across and they have produced some of the best albums I have ever listened to. Throughout my life, I’ve been inspired by many talented musicians, from Pavarotti to Johnny Cash. I listen to them all. But Jon Bon Jovi is a hero to me.

“I have a long connection to Galway as I have been gigging here since I was 18-years-old. It is my spiritual home and I am looking forward to our night at Monroe’s Live on January 6, which is Little Christmas. It’s a fantastic venue and we bring something different to every show.”
