Two Folk Powerhouses Ger O’Donnell and Trevor Sexton Combine to Launch Debut Album at Monroe’s Live

With delicate harmonies, soulful lyrics and a powerful folk sound that takes audiences on a musical journey through the ebb and flow of life, artists Ger O’Donnell and Trevor Sexton are set to launch their debut album together at Monroe’s Live on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

The Alchemist’s Stone is their first foray into the album world as a duo, as they combine their multi-instrumental talents, to deliver a haunting mix of music firmly rooted in the traditional genre. Having delighted audiences with their heartfelt renditions, this is acoustic folk at its finest.

Thanks to their warm and inviting performances, O’Donnell and Sexton naturally bridge the divide between audience and songwriter. Their gentle ballads are steeped in nostalgia, igniting a flame of familiarity and the grounding call of home.

With influences spanning Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and Pete Seeger, the work of Trevor Sexton is created with intent, crafting songs through storytelling to give voice to his life experiences. His talent is such that he has enthralled audiences at the Cork Opera House, Vicar Street and the UL Concert Hall.

For Ger O’Donnell, collaboration is his muse as he has garnered a loyal following over the years, sharing the limelight with some of the legends of our time. The music educator, arranger and composer has worked his way from classical flute and fife to rock and strings, reaching the coveted No 1 slot in the Irish charts for his singles ‘Turquoise Ink’ and ‘Talk about the Heroes’.

Now they have come together to bring The Alchemist’s Stone album to the stage. Join Ger O’Donnell and Trevor Sexton at the launch of the album at Monroe’s Live on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 8pm. Tickets cost €20 from www.monroes.ie
