This news is especially welcome at this time when there are not enough homes to meet the demands of our expanding population and changing demographics.
Housing is an essential component of the “Galway 2040” plan as set by Government which targets to increase Galway City’s population by 50% or 40,000 people in that timeframe.
Strong local businesses investing in the economy will provide jobs and much needed infrastructure that will help the city deliver on its ambitions. The building of 200 new homes is a massive investment in the local economy through employment in construction and professional services, purchase of materials and subcontractors.
These two new housing developments will offer homes with a range of choice in size, type and location to meet most of the market needs. There will be two bed apartments, three and four bed semi-detached and terraced as well as four and five bed detached homes.
Both locations in city and county are well serviced and convenient. Burkeway Homes have a reputation for providing high quality well designed homes and are in the latter stages of their current developments at Fanan and The Blake, Letteragh Road which comprises 101 houses and apartments.
Michael Burke, Managing Director of Burkeway Homes said they are delighted to be starting these projects.
"They will keep our construction team busy. We are particularly happy that we will be able to supply much needed accommodation and homes and, in the process, provide many jobs in the construction sector for both Galway city and county," he said.
Preparation works are ongoing on both sites at Letteragh Road and Bearna and construction will progress quickly from January 2023.
