Galway’s James Colohan carving his own path

Fresh from releasing his debut EP ‘Colohan’ and his second track ‘What am I Doing Here’ last month, Galway’s very own James Colohan will take to the stage at Monroe’s Live on Wednesday December 21. The well-known singer songwriter is now gaining a solid reputation for his exciting original work after years on the music circuit.

With lyrics spanning the breadth of human emotion, James brings his strong vocals and musicianship to every note. Not only that, but he crosses the genres of rock, pop and country with a fresh sound that embraces his experience. James has been playing the guitar since he was four years old and has toured with leading bands across Ireland.

James Colohan’s dedication to the Irish music scene over the years ensures there is a strong interest in discovering what’s next for the young musician. Now that he is stepping out to explore the parameters of his own musical journey, he is delivering timeless classics that speak to a generation.

Inspired by the likes of John Mayer, The 1975 and Ed Sheeran, James is determined to carve his own path, creating unique work that is both accessible and reaches out to his audience. With touching ballads and upbeat melodies, the undercurrent of his work is founded on lightning-fast guitar riffs, challenging chords and powerful drum sounds to bring a new take to the modern pop world.

It is thanks to this that James Colohan won’t be easily defined into any category. From light and innovative to edgy and soulful, he pours everything into his lyrics. Discover this rising talent with the full support of his six-piece band backstage at Monroe’s Live on Wednesday, December 21 at 8pm.
