Steve Wickham and Jane Willow

A special double headliner gig takes place at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, December 10, as musical driving forces Steve Wickham and Jane Willow take to the stage on Dominick Street. The award-winning rock fiddler Steve Wickham is part of the Waterboys’ musical legacy that has spanned over 30 years.

Not only that, but he made his recording debut with U2 on ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ in 1982. Since then, he has played with the likes of music giants Elvis Costello, Sinead O’Connor, Bob Dylan and Sharon Shannon. The electronic violinist, songwriter and composer has also performed with Mike Scott at legendary venues worldwide such as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Albert Hall.

Together with musician Jane Willow, this is set to be a night steeped in melodic talent of the highest calibre. Fans of Jane Willow will immediately recognise her haunting folk sounds and delicate vocal tones as she treads the balance between traditional song writing with her own life experience. Her melodies are the voice of home, taking listeners on a nostalgic journey with her contemplative style.

While Steve Wickham crosses the lyrical genres from traditional to classical and gypsy jazz, Jane Willow embarks on a delicate, soulful interpretation of folk at its finest. The Dutch born artist has embraced the sound of her adopted homeland. Her work is such that she has opened for the likes of Glen Hansard, Lisa Hannigan, Paddy Casey and Kila.

With Wickham’s ability to explore new musical territory, their connection is such that the experienced Waterboys musician has featured on Willow’s debut album ‘Burn So Bright’. His two solo albums ‘Geronimo’ and ‘Beekeeper’ display the same sensitivity and wit that he brings to his live performances.
