Some of the local properties that will be on offer on December 9 are as follows.

Ballynahown, Furbo, Co Galway

Once in a while something a little unusual comes to the market. This is one of those times. This property at Ballynahown, Furbo, is a detached four bed farmhouse style home on the market for sale by public auction and in need of some TLC.

This south facing stone built house is situated on a parcel of land of approximately five acres and is bound by the babbling Loughinch River to the west. Typical of its time, a barn adjoins the house along with the ruins of various outbuildings which bound the central yard. Once a thriving family homestead, it has lots of potential to turn it back into a family home with room to extend the original floor plan or convert outbuildings into a workspace. There are lots of possibilities with this smallholding given the amount of land with it, all subject to planning permission.

Accommodation in the house comprises kitchen/dining room, living room, and a bedroom or study on the ground floor, with three bedrooms off a long landing on the first floor. Windows front and back let in lots of natural light and the view over the neighbouring fields is serene.

It is in a lovely, private setting, just five minutes' drive from the village, church, and beach at Furbo. A perfect little hideaway only 20 minutes west of Galway city centre.

AMV: €250,000.

Spiddal has everything, including An Cheardlann, a craft village, as well as a primary school and a secondary school in the village. Galway city centre is only 18km away.

Georgian in period, it includes a fine pitched slate roof which still serves its purpose well and which still retains its cast-iron rainwater goods. As an added bonus a stone cottage lies on the land, roofed and intact. With some flair and imagination, the new owners could create a beautiful authentic home studio or guest accommodation with it. Tryhill is located in a wildlife sanctuary, in a peaceful and tranquil setting. The local country village is five minutes away. This is a perfect opportunity to work from home for a work life balance. Athlone and Roscommon are within a 20 minute drive.
