Train users on the Galway-Dublin routes will experience some disruption this weekend as there will be service alterations in place.
The changes are due to essential track maintenance works taking place at the Ceannt Station, Galway on Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 25, 26 and 27.
From 18:00hrs on Friday November 25, bus transfers will be in operation for all Galway to Limerick services between Ceannt Station and Athenry. Buses will depart Ceannt Station 25mins in advance of train times and trains to Limerick will depart Athenry at the scheduled time.
There will be reduced capacity on some services. Iarnród Éireann is advising customers to book in advance online at irishrail.ie Tickets will not be issued at the booking office for sold out services.
The following services will operate with bus transfers and some at altered times:
Saturday 26:
06:25hrs Galway to Dublin Heuston will operate as a bus transfer to Athenry with a train operation from Athenry to Dublin Heuston. Note: Buses will depart Galway at 06:00hrs
17:30hrs Dublin Heuston to Galway will operate a train to Athenry with a bus transfer onwards to Ceannt Station.
Sunday 27:
13:00hrs Galway to Dublin Heuston is advanced to 12:35 and will operate as a bus transfer to Athenry with a train onwards from Athenry to Dublin Heuston. The train will depart Athenry and 13:18hrs
16:35hrs Dublin Heuston to Galway will operate as a train to Athenry with a bus transfer from Athenry to Ceannt Station.
19:25hrs Galway to Athlone is advanced to 19:00hrs and will operate as a bus to Athenry and a train from Athenry to Athlone. The train will depart Athenry for Athlone at 19:43.
It should also be noted that due to different line maintenance works, which are happening between Dublin Heuston and Inchicore the following service alterations are in place on Sunday November 27:
08:00hrs Dublin Heuston to Galway will operate as bus transfer from Dublin Heuston to Kildare and Portarlington, train will depart at 09:15hrs from Portarlington to Galway.
11:00hrs Galway to Dublin Heuston will be deferred until 11:25.
