GRETB auctioneers apprenticeship awards ceremony

On November 10, 23 auctioneering and property services apprentices graduated, becoming qualified auctioneers after completing their two-year apprenticeship with Galway Roscommon Education & Training Board.

In doing so, they became the first auctioneers qualified through an apprenticeship in the west of Ireland. The auctioneering apprenticeship is one of nearly 70 career apprenticeships available for school leavers or career changers.

During this programme, apprentices learn the skills of valuations, property laws, ICT, marketing, and many more subjects. The auctioneering apprenticeship is helping change the face of apprenticeship by opening many new career choices.

Apprenticeships offer a great opportunity to gain an internationally recognised qualification, it is delivered through a combination of on-the-job and off-the-job training that allows the apprentices to earn while they learn.

In addition, employers see the benefit as the apprenticeship not only helps create a career path into the industry, it also helps attract talent and allows the employer to mentor the apprentice throughout his/her development.
