Supermac’s is hosting its annual charity fundraiser on November 25 at the LoughRea Hotel & Spa and this year proceeds will be in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI ). In Ireland, one in seven women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. It is the second most common cancer in Irish women after skin cancer and the most common cancer in women over 50.

Supermac’s MD, Pat McDonagh, said both himself and Una are delighted to be hosting this fundraiser on behalf of the National Breast Cancer Research Fund.

“Cancer has touched the lives of many all over the country and the role of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute is vital as its research can help ascertain the causes and factors that influence breast cancer and therefore help to develop effective screening, treatments and medication to combat it,” he said.

“Una has been a patron of the Institute for many years and we would be delighted if people could support this worthy cause.”

The Research Director of NBCRI, Professor Michael Kerin, said he would like to thank Pat and Una for their support for this event and for their continued support throughout the years.

The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway,” he said.

“We know that breast cancer research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. We want to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future.

Our research team, in collaboration with universities and hospitals across the globe, focuses on the development and improvement of diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies, to drive real and measurable improvement in clinical outcomes for breast cancer patients.”

The event takes place at the LoughRea Hotel and Spa on Friday the 25th of November with a drinks reception at 7 and dinner at 8.

There will be entertainment on the night with live music and comedy. Tickets are available by calling the hotel at 091 880088 or email [email protected]
