An Taibhdhearc presents the Freebirds M.C.C Project for one night only this Friday November 11. Join them for a night of live rock music from ‘Lazarus Brother’, an artwork exhibition and film screening. Come and experience this work with the community who made it.
Freebird’s, a collaborative project between artist Brigid Mulligan and the Freebird’s Motorcycle Club from Longford, gives a glimpse into the typically unseen side of Irish bikers in a rural community by honing in on a group of friends who developed a motorcycle club. The film travels through their old days going in convoy to motorcycle rallies, meeting new people, listening to rock music and staying up all night around the campfire, as they share their intimate perspectives on life and experiences of loss.
Brigid Mulligan is an artist based in Galway. She recently completed this yearlong collaborative project with her brothers and friends at the Freebird’s Motorcycle Club. The work is based on their shared histories and communal experience of loss. Their community lost three club members (including Brigid’s brother ) to road traffic accidents over the last twenty years.
