Award winning traditional folk band Flook will bring their high energy, toe tapping musicianship to Monroe’s Live on Friday, November 11, at 7:30pm. While this is a fully seated show, there is no doubt you will be on your feet, as the rousing rhythm of this talented foursome is set to lift the rafters. The musical chemistry created on stage by the flutes and whistles of Brian Finnegan and Sarah Allen, the guitar of Ed Boyd and the bodhran of John Joe Kelly is unparalleled. In essence, Flook can move an audience, with haunting ballads that synonymise the call of home mixed with lightening paced pieces. The drill of the bodhran echoes the call of the music, as together, they simply take flight.
Having toured Japan, Ireland, and Germany, and winning best band at the BBC folk awards, Flook’s professionalism and dedication to the genre is evident in every note. However, it is when they perform live that the real proficiency takes place. These accomplished musicians present as one cohesive whole, weaving the tapestry of traditional folk with their own inimitable style.

This is a welcome return for the band, who took a recording break of 14 years, to follow their individual paths. Now, they have reunited with a stunning new sound that is firmly rooted in our ancestral past. The name itself, Ancora, is synonymous with where the band are placed at this moment, meaning anchor, hope and again.
