Tickets are flying for the Carnmore Community Walkway Lip-sync which takes place in the Clayton Hotel Galway this Saturday night.
In a time when communities are doing all they can to encourage greater health for all their members, one Galway sports club is doing its best to encourage people to get off the couch this winter and stay fit.
“Through their efforts and local support, we will be funding the creation of a community walkway at Carnmore that we will all be able to use,” the organisers said yesterday.
“With the dark nights upon us, it is becoming increasingly important that we find somewhere safe and convenient to exercise in the heart of our community.
“Many of the roads in our area are without pavements, so getting in your steps or your run is increasingly hazardous.
“This new walkway is off-road, safe, lit, soft-surfaced, and less harsh on aching limbs. It is also fully accessible to all users and suitable for buggies, wheelchairs, tricycles. In short, it is an asset we can all be proud of.
“In these times of increased cost of living, it also enables parents to save fuel by cutting out some of the drop-off/pick-up journeys by offering them something to do while their children are trained by the dedicated coaches.
Carnmore hurling and camogie clubs are one of the most progressive in the county, and over the past decade have been developing their substantial facilities to benefit the entire community.
In 2019, tickets for the Carnmore LipSync were sold out well in advance of the night, and tickets are flying again this year. Reviews of that show stated it was one of the best club nights seen in the community and organisers of this year’s extravaganza are hoping for a similar success.
Tickets for the show are available from Glynns Centra, Carnmore, Hughes SuperValu, Claregalway; Lyons Mace, Carnmore and online from Carnmore hurling club at Clubforce.
