Magnetti's Salthill marks one year in business

This weekend, Magnetti's Salthill is celebrating its first year in business. Over the past year brothers Sean and Marco Magnetti have brought a real touch of Rome to Salthill. The restaurant has seen remarkable success and is well-liked by both locals and visitors thanks to its authentic Roman “pizza al taglio” and breathtaking location on the Salthill Promenade overlooking Galway Bay.

Pizza al taglio in the true Roman tradition was something they really wanted to bring to Galway. To achieve this, the pizza dough is matured for 72 hours to make it crispier, lighter, and flavourful. The dough is stretched by hand into a long rectangular form, generously topped, and set on the stone. The lengthy pizza is displayed on a unique beechwood counter and offered for sale either whole or by the slice — "al taglio," as they say in Rome.

The Galway brothers, whose family are originally from Rome, go to great lengths for the authentic experience. The coffee is brought in directly from a traditional roastery outside Rome. The olive oil is made from "canino" olives farmed on the Lazio/Umbria border, the mozzarella comes from Naples, and all the wine is organic Italian. You can also purchase a variety of speciality products from the shelf.

Magnetti's is an excellent place to grab a fast piece of pizza after walking along the Prom, or right before going to the neighbouring cinema. The restaurant can accommodate large groups or family gatherings/parties as well. Takeout is offered all day for those on the go. In all cases, a memorable experience.
