The University of Galway is hosting the 8th European Lean Educators Conference (ELEC ) on November 22-24. ELEC2022 provides a platform for professors, teachers and trainers from academia, industry and public sector organizations to share their knowledge and experiences and learn from one another. The conference theme is “Lean Green and Sustainability”.Conference Chair Dr. Olivia McDermott, Assistant Professor in the College of Science & Engineering in the University of Galway stated that hosting the conference is a testament to the reputation that Ireland has as a centre for Operational Excellence with Lean educational programmes being driven by Enterprise Ireland, third level organisations and multinationals in recent years.
She explains that Lean is a continuous improvement methodology utilised in many organisations to reduce waste and improve productivity and quality.
Two recent published studies carried out by Dr. McDermott found that over 95% of Irish Medtech and Pharma companies had a Lean programme. Dr McDermott is interested in hearing from any organisations who would like to deliver short presentations on their Lean programmes and initiatives and share best practices or who are simply interested in attending.
Registration is open and the conference link is https://nuigalwayelec.clr.events/event/132067#.
