Glór Tíre, TG4’s hit country music competition, is back for 2023 and for the first time in more than two years, it will be recorded with a live audience.
Series creator Gael Media successfully produced two series of Glór Tíre during the pandemic, resulting in more than 10 hours of live country music broadcast on TG4. Gael Media are delighted to confirm that season 19 of GT is moving to a studio in the Gaeltacht and welcoming back its loyal dancing audience.
The first four episodes will be recorded in Studio Telegael An Tullach, Baile na hAbhann, Co na Gaillimhe (H91 W319 ) on Wednesday October 5, and Thursday 6, resulting in four concert shows for broadcast on TG4 in January 2023, followed by three live elimination shows in February.
Glór Tíre will see eight emerging talents of Irish country music being mentored by the biggest names on the Irish country scene, and fighting it out to win the title of Ireland’s Glór TíreCountry Music champion.
October 5 will involve recording two concert programmes - one featuring Country & Irish music legend, Louise Morrissey, and her two contestants; the other with rising star, Donegal country singer David James, and his two contestants.
October 6 will feature the next concert programmes with two other great stars of Country and Irish music - Galway’s Mike Denver and Derry’s John McNicholl, and each of their two contestants.
Glór Tíre, TG4’s longest running and most successful country music series, will be presented by Aoife Ní Thuairsig and Séamus Ó Scanláin. Jó Ní Chéide and Caitriona Ní Shuilleabháin return as the resident judges, joined each week by a special guest judge.
Doors for the performances open at 7.30pm with the first recording at 8pm sharp. There is a cover charge of €10 each night.
