Students excel in maths and English with Kumon

Kumon is a unique method of learning maths and English designed to nurture each child’s ability to think and learn for themselves. By studying these programmes students develop their ability to self-learn and gain confidence as they progress through the programmes.

By committing a small amount of time (circa 20 minutes ) to an individualised study programme in the subject(s ) of their choice, Kumon students often advance far beyond their age over time.

Positivity and excitement characterised the atmosphere of the recent Kumon Awards ceremony. The Mayor of Galway Cllr Clodagh Higgins presented the awards. All students received certificates for their level of achievement. Students studying six months ahead of their age received bronze medals, silver medals were awarded to those studying two years ahead of their age, and those studying three years or more ahead of their age received gold medals.

Hana Rosie Nasri received a special plaque for studying the mathematics programme five years ahead of her age. Yumna Yousif, the third member of her family to complete the English programme, and at 10 years of age the youngest student ever to complete a programme in Kumon Galway City West, was the recipient of the Stephen Hayden Trophy marking the courage and perseverance that led to her studying seven years ahead of her age.
