HSE called on to issue a statement on Day Care Services for Loughrea

Independent Councillor Geraldine Donohue GCC has called on the HSE to issue a statement on its promise to reopen a full Day Care Services in Loughrea.

Cllr Donohue said there were too many mixed messages coming out of the HSE which are inconsistent in terms of content and are great cause of concern to families availing of the service.

She cited recent remarks made by Deputy Ciaran Cannon who said he was privy to and welcomed the negotiations between the HSE and a provider that he was not in a position to name!

Well who is asked Cllr Donohue!

I want to know if the HSE has agreed a new venue for the day centre and if so where and with who?

Cllr Donohue is questioning the possibility of a new venue for the service, cautioning that any change of use of a building that is not already a day care centre will require planning permission which can take anything from five to eight weeks.

“We cannot have any delay in reopening a full day care service for Loughrea.

“I have prepared a Preliminary Question which I will seek to have put down in Dáil Eireann so that the matter can be raised at national level.”

“I am inundated with calls from families who want to hear what’s happening about the Day Centre. I am asking the HSE to come clean and brief all public representative on a definite plan to get the Day Centre open,” she said.
