Wildlands adventure park in Moycullen, celebrating its second year in business, has become a hot spot for thrill-seekers of all ages.
Ten minutes from Galway city at the gateway to Connemara and set on over 20 acres of mature woodland, the development consists of an array of impressive indoor and outdoor adventures, including their popular zip ‘n’ trek course, which stretches for more than a kilometre through the park, 15 metres above the ground.
The Celtic challenge rooms, a fully automated arena comprising 24 Irish mythology themed challenge rooms opened earlier this year. There is also zip ‘n’ trek junior, indoor climbing walls, archery, bushcraft, yoga, baile beag miniature play village, mini 4x4 driving, fairy trails, woodland walks and lots more to explore.
Two new indoor adventures opened in June this year, cloud climb and ninja obstacle courses. Inspired by ITV's hit programme Ninja Warrior UK, the wildlands ninja warrior indoor arena course is a test of endurance, agility and balance in a fun and safe environment. Visitors can choose from challenges which include fun races, team circuits, or try to master the competitive timed circuit.
In addition to the Olive Tree kitchen, a contemporary 150 seater restaurant led by head chef Richard Casburn, the Wildlands' wagon, a refurbished vintage VW postal van from Germany, which sells coffee, sandwiches and freshly baked treats, has become a hit with Walway locals and visitors.
Wildlands has more exciting plans for the future. In late autumn 2022, it will open 14 luxury wooden cabins with a bird's-eye view of the development. Many of these will be suitable for families and larger groups.
