Gathering of the boats for sailing festival

One of the most enjoyable events on the Galway sailing calendar starts today.

The Lambs Week festival, now in its third year, is a mixture of racing, cruising, and fun. Attracting a gathering of sailing yachts of all sizes, the boats meet in Ros á Mhíl Marina, sail in company around the Aran Islands, and then into Port of Galway.

Held over five days, two nights are spent in Cill Rónáin on Inís Mór, one night in Ros á Mhil, and the final night in Port of Galway Marina.

Last year more than 40 boats participated, and organiser Galway Bay Sailing Club is hopeful similar numbers will take part in this third annual event.

Sponsored by Corio Generation, which is developing a proposed 450M watt wind farm on Sceirde Rocks off the coast of Connemara, along with other sponsors such as Gaeltacht na hÉireann and Port of Galway, the event starts today (Thursday ). For more information visit at www.gbsc.ie/lambsweek2022
