People for Others, an exhibition which pays tribute to many well-known personalities who help those in need, is running all this month at Galway Cathedral.
The works by artist Sara Kyne are of 24 heroic people that she has come across in recent years, people who she believes have gone above and beyond in their desire to ensure the betterment of life for others.
The subjects are both national and local and feature some of the best known people who are involved in social and medical charity in the country.
Included among these are Sr Consilio, Bro Kevin Crowley, Fr Peter McVerry, Croi CEO Neil Johnson, Sen Joan Freeman, Fr Shay Cullen, St Stanislaus Kennedy, John Pridmore, Christina Noble, Dr Austin O'Carroll, Alice Leahy and Antoinette Moynihan, to name but a few.
"They are represented in this upcoming exhibition because this is my way of honouring these people and drawing others to read about them," said Ms Kyne.
"The portraits will be exhibited in other parts of the country and eventually sold or auctioned with all proceeds donated to charity," she added.
The exhibition runs in Galway Cathedral until July 30.
