Cllr Alan Cheevers has expressed his disappointment at the news that Galway City Council has terminated its building contract for the social housing project Garraí Beag on Rockland Ave in Ballybane .
Cllr Cheevers said: “It was very obvious the project was moving at a slow pace over a period of time. Obviously there were issues behind the scenes.
“I believe this is a big disappointment also for people on the housing list waiting for these homes; it’s a major setback.”
He concluded: “We need to know what is the process now with the Galway City Council - how long it it take to re-tender the building contract and get a new contractor to finish off the development, to provide much needed homes.”
