Galway United manager John Caulfield is delighted that Shane Doherty is available for selection again.
The popular Delran, New Jersey native has not featured for United since scoring in a 3-1 away win over Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds on March 11.
A head injury ruled Doherty out of contention for three months, but the pacy attacking player featured in an in house training match on Saturday.
“Shane is a valuable player for us,” Caulfield says. “We know from last year how well he has done, he was great in the games he started. We all know about his pace and directness.”
Doherty’s return is a significant boost according to Caulfield. “Certainly in the first half of the season it was unfortunate, he got a concussion knock and had to stay out longer than we had hoped,” Caulfield says.
“He was back just before the break and he was back in great condition, it is great that he is back into the panel.”
