A flavourful menu has taken the Skeff Bar by storm. Galway’s iconic Eyre Square favourite has introduced an exciting and enticing menu that has something to suit not only every palate, but also every dining occasion; from hearty breakfasts and light bites, to sensational sizzling fajitas, beautiful burgers, and tender steak sandwiches cooked to perfection.
The new offerings to diners have gone down a treat since launching on Wednesday May 25, with feedback like: “My shopping trip was made even better, with a detour to the Skeff, friendly staff, fab food, and at great value,” according to one Galwegian. Another said: “We came in after the Roscommon and Galway game. I had the chicken burger, and my dad had the fish and chips, he’s very fussy, but said it was the best he’d had in Galway in a long time, we will definitely be back.”
Both regulars and tourists alike have thoroughly enjoyed the fresh look and feel of the new menu at the Skeff Bar, from bountiful breakfasts, made to set you up for the day, to light bites with a difference, such as open sandwiches, loaded nachos, and caprese bruschetta, perfect for a casual lunch during a shopping trip, a quick work break, or when peckish from pottering around the city.
The new Skeff Bar menu also provides an array of more substantial and hearty meals, in the form of the ‘larger bites’ selection, from succulent home cooked burgers, to black pudding stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon, braised pork belly, white wine garlic mussels, and so much more. However the team have not forgotten their old favourites, many of the Skeff staples, such as its iconic traditional fish and chips wrapped in its nostalgic old-style newspaper, its succulent 10oz striploin steak, and its homely roast of the day, have all been reinvigorated for those longing for joyful comfort food that exceeds all expectations.
The menu is not only wonderfully varied in its choice of offerings, it is also exceptionally well-priced and deliciously crafted from the creative hands of the Skeff’s talented kitchen team. With executive head chef of the group Connor McKeown and his right hand man, sous chef Mickey, at the fore, there is such a wealth of expertise and ability from this experienced pair, that the Skeff Bar's kitchen is well-versed in creating delicious dishes daily, that always delight. Everything is cooked to perfection as they wouldn’t have it any other way. Both are equally matched when it comes to passion for food and creative combinations that work, the Skeff’s formidable duo plate up meals that make you simply want more.
Other items that are served with delight in the Skeff Bar include its array of freshly made cocktails and its finely aged whiskeys, of which there are a grand 141 varieties from across the globe to choose from. Such a fine collection can be seen on display in the famous 1850 Whiskey Bar inside the Skeff. It is also home to live music seven nights a week and all the best of in sports can be viewed from its 10 large screens and over sized projector, you never miss a moment at the Skeff Bar.
Home to the friendliest and happiest staff you will find in the whole of Galway city, and that’s what the team themselves say, the Skeff is so much more than just a bar and restaurant. It is, and has always has been, a historic part of Galway’s culture dating back to 1850, and it is today a listed building due to its special architectural heritage being considered of national importance and most certainly worth protecting.
