Galway made short work of disposing of Carlow in their Glen Dimplex Intermediate Camogie Championship clash in Duggan Park on Saturday.
In the driving seat from the outset, Galway finished 5-22 to 0-7 winners, but now prepare for a tougher challenge against 2019 All Ireland intermediate Champions Westmeath on Saturday.
Carlow started brightly, it was short lived as Galway took a 1-6 to 0-3 lead midway through the opening half, thanks to points from Laura Loughnane, Jennifer Hughes, and Cora Kenny, who also delivered a goal on the 16th minute. Within minutes Niamh McInerny added a second major, and by half time the lead had extended to 2-12 to 0-5
Cora Kenny and Loughnane goals pushed Galway 4-19 to 0-6 ahead, and a scoring blitz from Gilchrist (0-2 frees ), Grainne O’Neill, and a second McInerny second goal, sealed a comfortable victory.
