Tens of thousands of revellers are to flock to the west this Bank Holiday Weekend with scorching temperatures predicted and a host of musical events scheduled across the city and county.
Topping the attraction will be a concert by the Black Eyed Peas at Pearse Stadium on Saturday which is expected to be a 26,000 sell-out with hotel rooms and tickets in the city booked up months ago.
The concert will be a major boost for local hostelries and consequently accommodation is limited right across Galway. Bars and restaurants are gearing up for what could be their busiest weekend for the past two years.
The boost for Salthill and the city comes just days after 24,000 thronged into the Salthill venue for Galway's victorious Connacht Senior Football Final against Roscommon.
The motorways in and out of the west will be busy as Galway senior hurlers and their supporters will be heading East for Saturday night's eagerly-awaited Leinster Final clash with Kilkenny, with the winners guaranteed a place in the last four in the race for the MacCarthy Cup.
An Garda Síochána has launched a general appeal for road users to take greater care on the road over the June Bank Holiday.
