Last Sunday in Oranmore saw the finals of the St Columba’s Credit Union Invitational Tournament for boys and Girls from u7, u8 and u9 age groups, making it the largest tournament of its kind in the west of Ireland.
Ten clubs took part and 1000 medals were distributed to all participating players by special guests from the football and political world. The clubs who took part all season on every Sunday rain or shine were Craughwell Utd, Cregmore/Claregalway, Kiltullagh Pioneers, Renmore AFC, Athenry fc, Kinvara Utd, Corrib Celtic, Merlin Woods/Medtronic, Colga fc and the hosts Maree/Oranmore fc. Thanks to Shane Doherty, Francely Lomboto and Ronan Manning of Galway Utd who presented medals and to local elected reps Noel Grealish TD, Hildegarde Naughton TD, Cllrs Liam Carroll and Martina Kinnane who also gave medals to the young enthusiastic players.
