United defeat Longford at Eamonn Deacy Park

David Hurley and Max Hemmings scored for John Caulfield's team

Galway United 2 Longford Town 0

Second half goals from David Hurley and Max Hemmings ensured Galway United secured another vital SSE Airtricty League first division win over Longford Town at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The midlanders enjoyed plenty of encouraging first half moments, but United dictated the agenda after the restart.

Hurley expertly converted a 51st minute penalty following a Mick McDonnell foul on lively substitute Ed McCarthy.

United added a second in the 73rd minute courtesy of Max Hemmings as John Caulfield's charges were in firm control late on.

Longford's cause wasn't aided by the 82nd minute dismissal of the promising Dean McMenamy for a second bookable offence for a foul on Hurley.
