“Míle buíochas do na gnólachtaí agus na heagraíochtaí go léir a ghlac páirt sa Ghradam i mbliana.

2022 marks the 20th anniversary of Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh, which is a credit to all the businesses and organisations of Galway city who have continued to deliver on their commitment to the Irish language and play their part to strengthen Galway’s status as a bilingual city down through the years.

Thanks to their bilingual work, the Irish language, which is rooted at the heart of Galway, continues to bloom in our lovely city. Comhghairdeas leis an nGearrliosta agus go n-éirí go geal leo go léir sa chéad chéim eile den phróiseas moltóireachta!”

Speaking on behalf of the Moltóirí, Maeliosa Ó hÓgartaigh, Accountant & Businessman and son of the late Seosamh Ó hÓgartaigh, after whom the award is named, said “Tá an Gearrliosta deimhnithe anois agus táimid ag súil go mór leis an gcéad chéim eile den phróiseas moltóireachta sna seachtainí amach romhainn.

“This year is an exciting year, not only because the Gradam is celebrating 20 years in business but because it will be the first time since the pandemic occurred that the Moltóirí will meet with the Gearrliosta in person, visit their premises and get a true sense of their use of bilingualism within the business.

“While Zoom has proven to be an extremely useful and efficient tool the past two years, we are thrilled to be meeting with the businesses and organisations in person again! This year’s Gradam has welcomed a lot of new businesses and organisations, a fantastic sign indeed that more and more companies recognise the benefits of using an Ghaeilge in business.

“Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh celebrates the use of the Irish language in business and recognises the hard work businesses have put in to creating a bilingual business and we are delighted to be a part of that process.”

Other members of the adjudication panel include Daithí Ó Gallchobhair, Manager of the Wild Atlantic Way, Fáilte Ireland and Caroline Ní Fhlatharta, Oifigeach na Gaeilge, Oifig an Uachtaráin Ionaid and Meabhránaí, Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh.

Over the coming weeks, the Moltóirí will meet with the businesses and organisations listed on the Shortlist as they face the difficult decision to choose a winner in each category and an overall winner from the 5 category winners.

Gaillimh le Gaeilge would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the local and national sponsors for their invaluable support to the Gradam over the years. We are especially grateful for their support this year, a year which continues to pose a challenge for us all. Go raibh míle maith agaibh:

The Galway Advertiser, TG4, Fáilte Ireland, Galway Bay FM, Computer Troubleshooters Galway, Galway Technology Centre, Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge, Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh, MOLSCÉAL, Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Galway Chamber.
