Gardaí have recovered one of two eight-feet tall pencils that were stolen from outside Carroll’s Bar on Dominick Street on Tuesday night. The sizeable stationery pieces form an iconic part of the streetscape for the Cúirt International Festival of Literature, currently under way in the city.
The pencils, designed to fit over street bollards, are located at various festival venues around the city. Gardai are continuing in their attempts to trace the second pencil, and the festival said it is pursuing a number of leads.
It is hoped that the missing pencil can be recovered, and a line drawn under the incident.
In the meantime, gardaí and the festival are appealing for information.
