Galway clubs to host Aviva Soccer Sisters Easter Camps

Four Galway clubs will host Aviva Soccer Sister Easter Camps this April - the first in-person camps since 2019.

The three-day camps, which were launched on Tuesday by Republic of Ireland Women’s team duo Áine O’Gorman and Abbie Larkin, will be held at Galway’s Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe, Colemanstown United FC, Maree Oranmore FC, and Oughterard AFC.

The camps are open to all girls aged six to 14 - the first between Tuesday April 12 and 14, and the second camps from April 19 to April 21.

In all 100 camps will be held throughout Ireland, including a first camp in Irishtown, Co Dublin, that caters for children with additional needs.

Due to Covid restrictions, Aviva Soccer Sisters moved to an online virtual skills hub where Irish international and Peamount United FC star Áine O’Gorman delivered skills videos to some 6,000 children nationwide.

The Peamount United FC and women’s international player says the camps allow young girls to learn new skills and develop their confidence on the pitch while also having fun and making new friends at it.

"While it was a pleasure to deliver the Aviva Soccer Sisters Virtual Skills Hub over the last two years, I’m delighted to see the return of in-person camps to clubs across the country. I look forward to seeing who will follow in Abbie’s footsteps in the years to come,” O'Gorman says.

Each camp will take place over three days and will cost €30. Participants will receive an Aviva Soccer Sisters training top, football and a certificate on completing the camp. Registrations for this year’s Aviva Soccer Sisters Easter Camps are and can be accessed via www.aviva.ie/soccersisters
