Alzheimers Tea Days
April marks more than 20 years since Western Alzheimers first launched Tea Day, one of its primary sources of fundraising income.
Covid-19 has of course derailed this event for the past two years, but this April, they are back on track and they are inviting you to support us to ‘Share the Care’ by hosting your very own Tea Day.
Now more than ever your support is needed, as this is their first opportunity since Covid-19 to fundraise in person at a local level.
In 2021 despite Covid-19, Western Alzheimers Galway delivered more than 6,500 hours of care within the homes of those living with dementia and a further 200,000 hours of care in their dementia specific nursing home in Athenry.
“Our dementia nurse specialist delivered 2,000 hours of support directly to family members and our 30 Galway based Volunteer Befrienders delivered more than 3,000 hours of engagement to persons living with dementia. We could not achieve this without the support of our Tea Day.
“There is a growing need for dementia specific care in the community and by hosting a Tea Day in your home, work or club you can help support our charity,”said a spokesperson.
Don’t let Covid-19 prevent you from getting involved- host a virtual tea day and ask your friends to donate.
All you have to do is pick a venue (in person or virtual ) and a date, spread the word amongst your friends, clubs and work colleagues and more importantly ….put the kettle on!
At Western Alzheimers, they endeavour to ensure that persons living with dementia can enjoy a meaningful life as an active member of the community for as long as possible and your support is greatly appreciated by all working on behalf of those living with Alzheimers.
