EXPERIMENTAL INSTRUMENTAL rock duo Bicurious, and Brighton prog/math band Poly-Math, play the Róisín Dubh this week.
The show takes place on Wednesday March 23 at 8pm, with Bicurious - Dubliner Gavin Purcell and Taran Plouzané, from France - having just returned from a successful tour of Britain. With a string of European dates lined up for later this year, the Galway show may be one of the few chances to see them in Ireland this year.
“We’ve played Galway four times now, each time in the Róisín Dubh,” says Taran. “The first three were in the upstairs venue, and each time we would pack a bigger and bigger crowd. The last time was supporting And So I Watch You From Afar in the main room a few months ago, and we could really feel the energy. Now we’re headlining it ourselves for the first time. I feel it’s going to be pretty special!”
Bicurious released their debut album (re )constructed, in July 2021, and saw it win critical acclaim from Metal Hammer, Noizze UK, and Distorted Sound magazine. Thematically, the album follows a timeline of events highlighting the members’ dramatic life changes over the last three years.
Poly-Math are an instrumental group based in Brighton and London, and have been a mainstay at avant-garde musicFestival, ArcTanGent since 2013. They have produced several EPs, an album, and one double album, each one a concept piece revolving around revolutionary artworks or historical events.
