On Friday morning in Bohermore former players from one of the great clubs in the town, Galway Hibernians, will gather to reflect on old matches and memories.
Lisa McCaffrey, joint secretary of Hibernians, is organising this initiative hoping to attract ex players and supporters.
In recent years several iconic footballers from the club have passed away so this should afford people an opportunity to reconnect.
"We have had a couple of deaths, being guard of honour and listening to some of the stories, we just thought it would be a good idea to get them all together let them discuss and meet up in one area," Lisa McCaffrey explains.
"They have a lot of fun stories to tell, getting them all under the one roof, discussing it and things, life is too short, to bring them all together."
This has the potential to be the start of a very worthwhile project with a number of people interested.
"That is what we are hoping for, it would be lovely," she replies. "We will start small with the coffee morning, we will let them discuss whatever next meeting date suits them, where they want to go from there.
"We have lots of old club pictures hanging up, it will be nice for them to be able to look through those, to have a look around the clubhouse, to chat about the pictures they are probably in hanging up on the wall.
"We might even set up a computer some day, people that are in America and we have some old players there, maybe we can join them into the conversation."
"It was one of the past players, while we were waiting for Jimmy Ward's funeral to arrive at the cemetery, mentioned he'd like to meet up with other players that weren't able to make the funerals.
"I told him to leave it with me, we just came up with a date and we said we would start with a coffee morning, let them discuss then what else they would like to do. The clubhouse is there, it is great to get some use out of it when the children aren't there for training.
"We will start with a coffee morning and hopefully it will bring in more ideas for them to catch up on things."
