Co Galway is one of three counties that has grown its new car sales in the last two months compared to January/February 2021.
Galway shows the highest jump with 166 more new cars sold in the period. Co Wicklow had 93 more sales, and Co Meath registered 64 more new cars than last year. All other counties saw less new car sales for the period than for similar months last year.
Galway’s total was 1,758, up from 1,592, a rise of 10.4 per cent. It translates into an increase in Galway’s share of the national new car sales from 4.1 per cent to 4.74 per cent.
The performance goes against the national trend where there is a scarcity of new cars due to reduced production capacity globally.
