National underage leagues continue

It has been an encouraging start to the national underage league season for Galway United U17s, who defeated Sligo Rovers on Saturday evening.

Featuring a number of players, who made an impact in last year's U14 winning campaign, United have registered maximum points from two games.

Mark O'Halloran and Donnacha Sammon scored for United, who delivered another solid performance in Maree.

At the same venue on Sunday evening Brendan O'Connor's U19 outfit prevailed on a 3-2 scoreline against Kerry.

Mikey McCullagh, Tom Kidd, and Victor Udeze scored for United, who are away to Treaty United next.

Anthony O'Neill's United U15s were beaten in the capital 2-1 by Bohemians on Sunday.

Corey Lavery scored for United, who face Dundalk in Maree on Sunday in what is a crucial encounter for the home team.

Galway WFC's U17s enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 success over Cobh Ramblers at Dangan on Saturday.

Rebecca Shinnors (2 ), Emily Fitzgerald, and Áine Nolan scored for Galway WFC, who travel Leeside to play Cork City at the weekend.

At U19 level Wexford Youths proved too strong for Galway WFC, emerging 3-2 victors.

Having conceded three goals in the opening 38 minutes, Galway WFC staged a gritty revival with Rola Olusola hitting a brace.

Wexford, though, held on to secure the spoils against Galway WFC, who host Cork at Dangan on Sunday afternoon.
