Witnesses sought after motorcyclist dies in city collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 7:30pm on Monday on Bóthar na dTreabh in Galway City.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash site was closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions were in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam ) and were travelling in the Bother na dTreabh area of Galway City at the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Appeal for info on Headford burglary

Between 8.45 pm on Wednesday March 2 and 9 am on Thursday March 3, a house on Bridge Street, Headford was broken into, a sum of money was taken from the premises, entry was gained through the back door.

Gardaí in Tuam are appealing to anyone who may have seen any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the Bridge street area of Headford on the night in question to contact them at Tuam Garda Station on 093-70840.

Between 6:30pm on Saturday March 5 and 11:30am on Sunday March 6 a shed at the rear of a house at Lios Caishil, Ballybrit was broken into, a green and black BMX bicycle, a small petrol lawnmower and a Black and Red Parkside chainsaw was stolen from the premises.

Anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the Lios Caisheal area of Ballybrit or anyone who may have been offered any of these items for sale is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

Probe into Eyre Square assault

At approx. 3:35pm on Friday March 4 at Eyre Square, Galway a male while walking through Eyre Square was set upon and assaulted by a group of youths.

The male sustained a broken nose as a result of this assault.

Anyone who may have witnessed this assault or anyone who may have any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

Criminal damage

Between 10:30pm on Friday March 4 and 7:30am on Saturday March 5, a Black Skoda Octavia parked at Fana Burca on the Western Distributor Road was damaged, the rear window of the vehicle was broken, anyone who may have any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Salthill Garda Station on 091-514720.
