Salthill Devon advanced to the quarter-final stage of the FAI Junior Cup following a dramatic penalty shootout success over Fairview Rangers in Limerick on Sunday.
Aaron Conway scored for Salthill with the game eventually finishing level at 1-1 after extra-time.
Salthill, who top the Galway FA premier division table, prevailed following penalties to reach the last eight.
There was further good news for Salthill at the weekend as Athenry dropped points in the league, drawing 1-1 away to Corrib Celtic.
Enda Callanan provided a goal for the Annaghdown side with Peter Finnerty on target for Seamie Crowe’s Athenry.
Loughrea were beaten 2-1 by Mervue United in another top flight fixture as Tommy Walsh and Robert Carroll scored for the visitors. Mikie Lynch struck for Loughrea.
