Galway WFC manager Alan Murphy expects a stern Eamonn Deacy Park assignment against Peamount United in the WNL on Saturday evening (6pm ).
Goals from Nicole McNamara, Aoibheann Costello, and Julie Ann Russell ensured Galway WFC enjoyed an impressive opening weekend 3-0 win over Cork City at Turners Cross.
Peamount scored six when defeating Sligo Rovers with Murphy looking forward to the upcoming challenge.
“They have hit the ground running again with a really, really dominant display at the weekend,” Murphy says about an accomplished Peamount outfit.
“We can only look at ourselves and look at what we want to do in the game, the way we want to perform. Whether it is Cork or Peamount we won't dramatically change in terms of the view we have.
“Coming into the game we will be very much about ourselves, but we will give them the respect they obviously deserve and it is warranted for them. We won't be afraid of them either.”
Murphy was satisfied with how Galway WFC commenced in Cork. “It is an excellent start, it is only a game and the Peamount game at home comes around very quickly,” he adds.
“The pressure will be on again, but it was an interesting game. Obviously we had some new players that we are trying to blood into the squad.”
Promising teenager Nicole McNamara suffered an injury, but Murphy is encouraged about the depth of the Galway WFC squad.
“Like everything else you get these challenges of injuries straight away so we are a little bit upside down at times when Nicole went off. We were trying to get ourselves reset.
“Last season the squad was very thin towards the end of the season. You only really had 13 or 14 players that were available at the end. Nicole obviously went off injured, we have to assess her, to see how she is.
“We won't panic, we have strength in depth now, and that is the good thing. There will be players that need a chance in the coming weeks and pushing for that.”
