The Galway City Council is inviting residents associations, community groups, and allotment schemes to apply for the Local Amenity Grant Scheme 2022.
The objective of the scheme is to provide assistance to those who wish to contribute towards the betterment of their local environment by undertaking improvement works in their local area, focussing on litter clean-ups, graffiti removal, and community workshops.
Last year was the first time the application process moved online, with more than 80 groups availing of grants of between €150 and €450.
“The funding for the Local Amenity Grants Scheme for 2022 is €26,000,” said Tiarnan McCusker, the council’s Environmental Awareness Officer. “It is a great resource for community groups to avail of and create some positive changes in their neighbourhoods’.”
