Galway socialist-feminist organisation ROSA will hold a rally in Eyre Square on Tuesday March 8 from 6.30pm to mark International Women's Day.
The demonstration will highlight the issue of gender violence which was brought to the surface recently followinfg the horrific murder of Ashling Murphy. The rally will also see speakers from various different groups and campaigns that will address a wide range of topics, from abortion access to challenging sexist attitudes and misogyny.
“The rally will also see demands for immediate action from the Government to address the chronic under-funding of rape crisis and domestic violence services,” said a ROSA spokesperson. “ROSA is determined not to let the groundswell of public support for action on these issues dissipate, and is calling for all feminists, women's rights activists, and supporters to mark this International Women's Day by taking to the streets and getting active to fight for real change.”
