The public has a chance to shape the future of the city by making its views known on how it wants the sites of the Corrib Great Southern Hotel, Dawn Dairies, and Connacht Laundry to be developed.
The Galway City Council has identified areas throughout the city for regeneration as part of the new Galway City Development Plan, with special planning objectives to bring each one back into use or to improve its current position.
The sites identified under the plan include the Former Corrib Great Southern Hotel, the former Dawn Dairies, the former Connacht Laundry, the inner harbour area, the Arch Motors site, the Royal Tara site, Salthill, and the city centre.

The Social Democrats Galway City East councillor, Owen Hanley [pictured above], is urging the public to make their views known on what they want to see happen at these locations.
“The past decade was one characterised by dereliction and inaction on important sites across Galway,” he said. “We must plan now for a decade that encourages sustainable growth, and supports new communities, as well as existing ones."
