Have Your Say at Ireland's Conference on the Future of Europe in Galway

The European Movement Ireland are pleased to invite you to join them in The Galmont Hotel in Galway on 24 February at 18.30pm for a unique opportunity to discuss the Future of Ireland and share ideas about what Europe might look like in the next 5, 10, 20 years, as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe process taking place across the EU.

The European Movement Ireland’s mission is to develop the connection between Ireland and Europe, and to achieve greater public understanding of and engagement with the European Union and with our European partners. They do this by providing objective information and by stimulating debate. The aim of the Conference on the Future of Europe is to create a comprehensive proposal that has been discussed, deliberated, and decided on by as broad a range of voices in Ireland.

The European Movement Ireland want you to take part in a discussion about suggestions and ideas that have been put forward by the people of Ireland. The Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne TD, will address the event and on hand to streer the debate listen to people’s ideas.

The European Movement Ireland have carried out a number of panel discussions with people from all sectors of Irish society over the last six months and have developed a set of proposals based on what people have said they want to see from Europe. They are all based around issues that affect our everyday lives, and this is your opportunity to help shape them.

The European Movement Ireland are asking you to explore these ideas and vote on them. You do not have to be an expert to take part and there are no wrong ideas. Everyone is encouraged to have their say on the Future of Europe, and Ireland’s place in it.

The topics up for discussion at this meeting will be Climate Change and the Environment, and Digital Transformation. If you want to do further research, you can find some additional discussion papers on the European Movement Ireland’s website, that that have been developed with independent academics around Ireland ahead of the Conference. Topics varies from the EU and the World, EU economy, democracy, fundamental rights and laws, to specific topics such as EU migration, heritage, creativity, youth and sport.
