Exceptional demand for land at DNG Martin O’Connor auction

DNG Martin O’Connor estate agents recorded yet another round of successful land auctions on Thursday February 3 with two parcels of land being sold and significantly exceeding their respective AMVs.

The first auction of the day was for 4.34 acres of land in Eighterard, Oughterard, laid out in three fields enclosed by stone walls with good quality limestone grazing land. The lot, with a starting price of €35,000, recorded a total of 18 bids on the day, with the auction achieving a final sales figure of €46,000.

The second property was an exceptional plot of land in Cornarona, Inverin extending to c2.59 acres located just off the R336 Coast Road which attracted much attention in the weeks leading up to the auction. The plot is ideal for grazing and in the long term may make a lovely site for those with a local housing need. The property, following a total of 11 registered bidders and 62 bids, sold well in excess of the €8,000 guide price at €27,000 on the day.

DNG Martin O’Connor’s next online auction will take place on April 14 with a further four properties to be sold. The first auction property is a large plot of land at Keeagh, Moycullen, extending to 12.79 Ha (31.60 acres ). On the Spiddal road, the land with extensive road frontage offers potential for future sites, subject to planning permission, and is ideal for existing and new entrants to farming to expand their holdings. AMV is €60,000.

The second April auction lot is a large holding of land, in two sections, located at Corboley-Morgan, Barna. This substantial plot of land extending to c5.94 Ha (14.67 acres ) is located next to Bearna Golf Club. It is ideally suited to local farmers looking for some grazing and looking to expand existing holdings in the area. The plot of land is conveniently located 3.9km from Barna village and 8km from Moycullen village. AMV is €25,000.

Also going for auction is a plot of land extending to c0.69 Ha (1.70 acres ) on the shores of Lough Corrib. The plot, with excellent road and river frontage at the mouth of the Owenriff River, is a natural woodland plot with a central roadway situated only a few minutes’ walk from Oughterard village centre, the local GAA grounds, the new rugby ground across the road, the bog road loop, and the local pier where large boats can be launched. This prime plot of land is ideal for many uses such as a recreational area, hobby gardens, or a place to keep boats on the lake. AMV is €40,000.

The final lot on the day is for a plot of land next to Ross Lake at Cloonabinna, Moycullen. The plot, with a stated land area of 0.21 Ha (0.51 acre ), is enclosed by stone walls with many mature trees. The lands border a canal which leads to the lake. It offers excellent potential for a private recreational area and general amenity use close to Moycullen village. AMV is €15,000.
