‘It is time to sing together again’

Galway Choral Association seeks new members as it resumes in-person rehearsals this Sunday

“IT IS time to sing together again” is the phrase inspiring the Galway Choral Association as it plans to re-commence in-person rehearsals, this Sunday, February 13.

“It’s been incredibly difficult deciding when to start again”, says musical director Norman Duffy. “We hope to host a light collaborative concert in May/June 2022. Our main goal is a performance of Mozart’s Requiem, with orchestra and soloists, in January 2023. We may have to adapt to public-health circumstances – but this is the type of music we want to perform, and it is so important to look to the future positively.”

Rehearsals for new and experienced members will involve breathing and vocal techniques, and the choir will be accompanied by Dympna O'Byrne on piano. Rehearsals take place in St Patrick’s Bandhall, and screens and other features have been added to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
