TG4 has launched a 14-week intensive television and film training and skills-based programme. This practical programme, delivered by Atlantic Academy, in association with Gréasán na Meán Skillnet and the National Talent Academy Film & TV Crew Hub, will showcase practical and creative skills and will equip participants with the ability and appetite for an exciting career in the rapidly growing Irish TV and Film sector and will include a four-week work placement.
Keen to attract those with an ambition to follow a career in the TV and Film Sector, or those wishing to make a career change, this brand-new intensive training programme will give valuable knowledge and skills led training to advance talents and abilities in the TV and Film sector. Training will include producing and directing, along with the critical skills of camera operation, sound techniques, related engineering and an awareness of the variety of crew roles in this industry. In addition, aspiring participants will have the opportunity to engage with directors and producers in live production situations while also gaining very valuable mentoring by leaders of the independent TV and Film Production industry. The highly regarded Screen Ireland / Fís Éireann Passport to Production course will also be delivered as part of the training programme. The 4 week work placement will solidify 10 weeks of learning in a progressive Independent TV production company environment. This will give participants significant opportunities to work in the booming film and tv sector.
The programme is free to participants and they will paid a subsidy whilst partaking in the training programme. This course will be delivered by Atlantic Academy from its base at An Cuasnóg in an Spidéal in the Connemara Gaeltacht, which is also home to the successful TG4 Drama series Ros na Rún. The course directors are offering 12 places on the programme which will commence on March 21st 2022. Applications are required by Friday 25th of February 2022.
Applicants must show their ambition for a career in Film and TV Production to gain a place on this subsidised programme.
Aimed at people with a fluency in the Irish language, the programme will be delivered bilingually, thus applicants wishing to be considered for participation must be fluent in Irish.
TG4’s popularity continues to grow alongside its increased demand for high quality, entertaining independent productions. Atlantic Academy is a Galway based TV and Film Production training company based at an Cuasnóg, in an Spidéal in the Connemara Gaeltacht and was founded by Síobhán Ní Ghadhra and John Brady, directors of Danú Media who are co-producers of TG4’s Ros na Rún with Tyrone Productions. As the lead orgnanisation for one of the National Talent Academies Film and TV Crew Hubs for the West of Ireland, Atlantic Academy will deliver a full suite of training across all skills required for the innovative, creative and successful TV and Film production industry in 2022 and beyond.
